We can't do it without you!
Volunteering is one of the most rewarding ways to join our Tiger Band family. It offers a front-row seat to your student’s Band or Guard experience and demonstrates your support for their journey. With over 180 members, it takes a dedicated village to keep everything running smoothly, and our amazing volunteers make it all possible.

There are many ways to get involved - hospitality, chaperoning, pit crew, photography, cleaning uniforms and sewing, concessions, trailer driving, and more. No experience is required, and volunteers always get the best seats in the house! Plus, it’s a great way to get to know these incredible and talented young adults and a fantastic opportunity to make new friends with others.

Band Movers
The Band Movers are a dedicated group of parents supporting the DSHS Music Department’s ground activities, including Marching Band, Percussion, and Color Guard. Their tasks include towing band trailers to and from events (for those properly licensed), loading and unloading band equipment, building or modifying props, and providing manpower for various support roles such as pit crew assistance, moving podiums, setting up tents, and handling water and food logistics. District vehicles are available if you do not have the necessary equipment, but would like to help drive.
Chaperones
Transporting 180+ students to performances requires many buses and chaperones. This is a wonderful way to connect with students and other parents! Chaperones are needed for home football games, school bus rides to away games, and charter bus trips to out-of-town competitions. Games may fall on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. Whether you can help once a week or a few times each season, we’d love to have you “on board”!
Concessions
Volunteering on Thursdays to prep for Friday games and/or working Friday night concession stands at our home games and when we host other football events. This fun group raises essential funds that directly support the band while offering a great opportunity to connect with other parents and enjoy the music. The concession season runs from August through December.
Fundraising
Fundraisers provide crucial financial support to the band and guard programs. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with our Band Boosters fundraising efforts - whether it’s organizing events, coordinating donations, or lending a hand at fundraisers. Your time and support make a big difference in providing valuable opportunities for our student musicians.
Meals
Keeping our 180+ band and guard members fueled takes a dedicated team! Volunteers serve lunch and dinner during pre-season camp, summer camps, game days, and competitions. It’s a great way to meet students and families. Multiple volunteer opportunities are available throughout the season.
Monday Director Meals
This volunteer opportunity is great for someone who loves to cook and/or provide meals for directors and staff during marching season, usually on Monday nights (or sometimes Tuesday night). On these nights, our directors don’t go home and work very late. This means you can sign up by each family or you and a friend can come together to cook or order restaurant meals to show appreciation for our hardworking team. This is a great volunteering opportunity, and our directors and staff really appreciate it!
Photography
Help take pictures and capture memories for our band and color guard family including Senior Parent Night, football games, band events, and competitions..
Pit Crew
Join the Pit Crew for behind-the-scenes access and field-level involvement! This team manages the loading, unloading, and staging of band and guard equipment at every game and competition. They also host weekend work days for prop construction and equipment care. We work hard, enjoy great food, and have a lot of fun - everyone is welcome!
Uniforms
Help keep our band looking sharp! Assist with uniform fittings during summer band, staff the uniform room on game days, and support concert band attire. This is a great way to connect with students and see the program up close.
